The “Sonògraf” is an electronic audiovisual instrument.
Thought as a music learning tool for primary schools, it allows the drawing to be transformed into music, turning gestural strokes and geometric figures into electronic sounds. A set of buttons and potentiometers allow live manipulation of the “sonification” characteristics of the drawing, making it possible to speed up, slow down or pause the resulting music, as well as decide its scales and tonalities.
The Sonògraf incorporates speakers and a small video projector, making it possible not only to practice the instrument intimately, but also to stage it in an audiovisual concert for all audiences.
The conception, engineering and design of Sonògraf has been taken care of so that everyone can enjoy playing intuitively, offering a new paradigm for understanding musical writing and moving away from the hermeticism of “traditional” notation based on staves.
It is a tool for learning music intuitively; away from “academic” complexities, and which links the world of plastic expression with musical expression.
