Snow Queen

Light Scenography

Copenhagen. October 2019

Snedronningen (The Snow Queen) is an opera adaptation of the popular fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen.

Composed by Hans Abrahamsen, the opera revolves around the vital voyage made by Gerda in a quest to save her friend Kai from obscure forces.

Francisco Negrin, the stage director of this opera, commissioned Playmodes to imagine a light skin and visual contents for the scenography built by Palle Steen Christensen. A set of LED strips embedded in the scenography serve as a source to represent icy landscapes, crystal palaces, ominous trips and vital energies.
